The young and female farmers, including nationals who returned home from abroad, who intend to start a business in agriculture can filed application to ask for subsidies in advance during April 15 – June 18. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, the payments in advance can be used to renovate animal farms, to buy purebred animals and to develop postharvest and processing infrastructure and to also grow vegetables and fruit on protected land (greenhouses) and set up, modernize or clear multiannual plantations, IPN reports.
The financial support can represent at most 65% of the value of the project, but not more than 1 000 000 lei. The payments will be made in two tranches. The first tranche of 75% of the value of the subsidy will be paid if the beneficiary provides evidence of co-financing of 35% of the eligible costs. The second tranche of 25% of the value of the subsidy will be paid based on the application for disbursement when the object of the investment starts to be used and confirmation documents are provided.
The subsidies in advance are allocated from the National Agriculture and Rural Development Fund. The assessment and final selection of the investment projects that met the eligibility criteria will be performed by the assessment and selection commission of the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture.
