More and more households in Moldova are modernizing their appliances through EcoVoucher. In the first 10 days since the start of the fourth session this year, approximately 2,000 vouchers have already been redeemed, reports IPN.
According to the National Center for Sustainable Energy, the session takes place from August 7-31 and offers 9,500 vouchers worth up to 6,000 lei each, intended for families in vulnerable situations. This aid is especially addressed to households with children and those where elderly people live, with the aim of reducing energy consumption and, consequently, monthly bill costs.
According to the EcoVoucher program, the voucher covers up to 70% of the price of a new refrigerator or washing machine, if the appliance has a high energy efficiency class. At the same time, the beneficiary must recycle an old piece of equipment of the same type.
This year, over 15,300 families across the country have already benefited from the program, and since its launch, more than 29,800 households have replaced their old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones.
The vouchers are allocated based on the data registered on the compensatii.gov.md platform, and the beneficiaries receive notifications about how to use them. They can be used in the stores of the eight partner commercial networks, which have over 80 sales points throughout the country.
The program is financed by Norway with 7.5 million euros and is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy through the E4M project, supported by the Government of Moldova, the European Union, Germany, Denmark, and Norway.
