A new cyclone in Romania. Red alert for rain in Bucharest and five other counties

Meteorologists in Romania have issued several severe weather warnings, targeting nearly half of the country. Bucharest, along with five other counties, is under a red alert for torrential rains, while dozens of counties are targeted by orange and yellow codes for heavy precipitation, strong winds, and snowfall, reports IPN.

The National Meteorology Administration has issued torrential rain warnings valid from Tuesday, starting at 21:00, until Wednesday, at 15:00. The capital and the counties of Constanța, Călărași, Ialomița, Giurgiu, and Ilfov are under a red code for severe weather. Heavy rains are expected, and locally there may also be electrical discharges.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the Romanian authorities have decided to temporarily suspend classes in the schools of Călărași, Ialomița, and Constanța counties. At this time, the authorities are in a meeting and are evaluating the possibility of suspending activities in the educational institutions in the capital, as a result of the red code rain warning.

According to the forecasts, the weather will improve on Thursday, between 10:00 AM and 06:00 PM. The sky will be temporarily cloudy and there will be light rain, with the wind blowing gently to moderately. The maximum temperature will be higher, with the mercury in the thermometers reaching 18-19 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists in Chișinău have also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. Large amounts of precipitation are expected, which could cause flooding and difficult traffic conditions, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service.
