The students of technical vocational educational institutions will receive higher scholarships in 2023. A draft decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet in Wednesday, IPN reports.
Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală said the size of merit scholarships for students as from January will be raised by 15.7%. The Government’s excellence scholarship will be increased by 20%, while the scholarship on scientific areas for doctoral students – by 25%.
“This bill is very important also because it introduces this competition element with the aim of improving competitiveness in this area. The people with the best performance should be remunerated appropriately,” stated Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
In the same meeting, the Cabinet approved a draft decision on the provision of the Government’s excellence scholarship and the scholarship on scientific areas for doctoral students for 2023. It goes to 20 excellence scholarships and four scholarships on scientific areas.
For the scholarships to be indexed, the state budget law is to be amended. A sum of 41.8 million lei will be allocated for raising scholarships.
