Authorities, in crisis mode. The Army and IGSU intervene in dangerous areas

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the National Army will support local authorities, upon request, for intervention in the most affected or dangerous areas, including ensuring access to critical objectives and protecting the population. The decision was taken during a meeting of the National Crisis Management Center. It was also established that, during this week, the workday and study hours will start at 09:00 AM, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Energy have activated emergency protocols. These primarily intervene to facilitate traffic flow, maintain circulation on national and regional roads, combat ice formation and reconnect affected localities.

Road traffic is difficult on routes M1, M2, M3, M5, R2 and R3. In the last 12 hours, 135 machines and 195 workers have scattered over 1,460 tons of anti-skid material on the roads.

The power supply is interrupted in several localities. In the central and southern areas, Premier Energy Distribution has reported partial disconnections in 12 localities, affecting nearly 4,457 consumers, most of them in the Criuleni district. In the north, RED-Nord announced unplanned disconnections, targeting about 16,408 users. Intervention crews are working to fix the faults.

The National Crisis Management Center recommends citizens to avoid non-essential travel, to adjust their speed to road conditions, and to follow the Police’s instructions. Drivers must operate vehicles equipped for winter and pedestrians should be cautious on sidewalks and sloping sections. In case of emergency, the 112 Service can be called.
