Eleven Moldovan citizens, mostly minors, were evacuated from Lebanon with the support of Ukraine and the International Organization for Migration. On the evening of October 1, they arrived in Rzeszow, Poland, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that all 11 citizens of the Republic of Moldova are safe. They were welcomed by representatives of the Moldovan diplomatic mission in Warsaw and accommodated at the hotel, and on October 3 they will arrive in Chisinau.
The evacuation operation took place against the background of the tense security situation in the Republic of Lebanon following requests received by Moldova’s Embassy in this country, based in Ankara, Turkey.
Mihai Popșoi thanked the authorities of the neighboring state Ukraine and the International Organization for Migration for their support in this process.
The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Lebanon continues to receive evacuation requests from Moldovan citizens living in this country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova is making efforts to organize the repatriation.
