A boy aged 12 perished in a serious car accident at the entrance to Strășeni town in the evening of November 7. The accident involved two vehicles one of which was speeding and tried to overtake another car, changing lanes. As a result of the impact, the speedometer of the speeding car stopped at 120km/h. The information was confirmed for IPN by press officer of the Strășeni Police Inspectorate Mariana Didenco.
When on the spot, the police determined that a car driven by a man aged 35 heading for Strășeni collided head-on with a car driven by a 44-year-old woman traveling to the municipality of Chisinau.
The driver of the car that changed lines and his passengers – a 21-year-old woman and three minors aged 16, two and one – were rushed to the Strășeni District Hospital for medical care. A man aged 44 traveling in the other car was also hospitalized. The female driver was admitted to the Chisinau Emergency Medicine Institute, while her daughter died before the ambulance arrived.
Contacted by IPN for details, spokeswoman for the Chisinau Emergency Medicine Institute Dorina Arsene said the woman suffered associated severe injuries, including rib and spinal fractures and a left femur fracture, and was operated. She is under intensive care, in a critical but stable condition.
