The Republic of Moldova suspended the Odessa-Chisinau train route. The decision was taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations in connection with the developments in Ukraine. The provision is stipulated in the Commission’s February 24 decision.
The spokesman for the state-run company “Moldova’s Railways” Dumitru Prohnitski has told IPN that the persons who purchased tickets in advance can return them and receive a refund. The mechanism existed earlier too and is designed to ensure the protection of consumer rights.
“Regrettably, we do not know for how long the route will be unavailable,” said Dumitru Prohnitski. He noted that no other routes were suspended. The first train on the Chisinau-Iasi route set off today after a long pause.
Yesterday, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova adopted a decision by which a state of emergency was declared nationwide for a 60-day period, starting with February 24, in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
