After two years of its opening, the public medical-sanitary institution COVID-19 Chisinau Center housed by the international exhibitions center “Moldexpo” will be closed, as the Government decided on Monday, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, the decision to close the COVID-19 Chisinau Center was taken because the epidemiological situation due to COVID-19 in Moldova is relatively stable. At the same time, the center during the last pandemic wave was used only as a triage unit and the infected persons who needed treatment were transferred to medical institutions.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said that today the Center at “Moldexpo” works as a refugee placement center and accommodates Ukrainian refugees. The decision legally regulates the aspect that the Center will no longer work as a COVID-19 triage center.
The Ministry of Health will constitute a commission that will be in charge of the liquidation of the public medical-sanitary institution COVID-19 Chisinau Center. Moldova by now has got 514,222 cases of COVID-19. The death toll from the novel coronavirus stands at 11,449.
