President Maia Sandu announced that at the European Political Community Summit, she will speak to European leaders about the situation in Moldova and about the fact that our country needs more support to strengthen its institutions so that they can better protect Moldovan democracy, IPN reports.
“We want the Moldovans to decide for Moldova, not the Russians’ money. And, of course, Moldova’s road to the EU is important not only for Moldova, but also for stability and security on the continent,” said Maia Sandu.
In talks with journalists, Maia Sandu said that a few days ago, the Moldovan people chose a future in the European Union. The official noted that she is “proud of every Moldovan who stood up for democracy, showing incredible resilience in the face of immense challenges, external interference.”
The fifth European Political Community Summit is hosted by Budapest. The European Political Community was proposed by the French President Emmanuel Macron and is a platform for political dialogue. The inaugural meeting of the Community took place in Prague in October 2022, and the second edition was hosted by the Republic of Moldova in June 2023.
