The Republic of Moldova was promoted as a member state in the UNWTO Committee on Tourism and Competitiveness (2023-2027). In the elections to choose the statutory bodies of the World Tourism Organization, Moldova obtained 23 votes, IPN reports.
“Competitiveness is an important element of the strategy for promoting the Republic of Moldova as a tourist destination,” the Ministry of Culture noted in a press release. According to the institution, the accession to this body will bring multiple benefits for the tourism industry of Moldova. The work as part of the Committee will help to identify efficient strategies and initiatives for Moldova to promote the national tourism offer, to attract investments and to offer high-quality tourism services.
The elections were held during the 68th meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe that was held in Sofia, Bulgaria, during May 31-June 2. The 69th meeting will take place in Albania in 2024.
