Most students return to classes on January 9th

Most students return to classes after the winter holiday on January 9th. In a response to IPN, the Ministry of Education and Research stated that out of the 1,165 general education institutions, 834 have decided to start the second semester of the school year on Friday, while the others will start on Monday, January 12th.

According to the MEC, the hours for students returning to school on Monday will be made up either on a Saturday or by adding an extra lesson per day. Educational institutions can schedule the recovery of these hours until May 25th.

In the city of Chisinau, out of 151 institutions, 78 have decided that students will return to classes on January 9, while 73 on January 12. Most students from UTA Gagauzia will return to lessons this Friday, and 14 out of 45 institutions will resume classes starting Monday. In Balti, out of 25 institutions, only the Republican Theoretical High School “Ion Creanga” will start the second semester on January 9.

Students from all general education institutions in the country started their winter vacation on December 25th.
