The municipality of Balti on Thursday marks the day of the city and celebrates the patron saint with an extensive program that will last for several days. In order to ensure the movement of residents and guests to the festivities, the City Hall announced that the trolleybuses will run according to an extended schedule, until 02:00 a.m., on May 22 and 23, IPN reports.
Various activities will be staged until Sunday, May 25. On May 22, in “Vasile Alecsandri” square in Balti, the public could watch a concert, starting at 05:00 p.m. It will involve the band Lume, Dora Show, The Urs, Iuliana Beregoi and the international band Boney M, with Liz Mitchell.
Another concert will be given in the evening of May 23. Starting at 07:00 p.m., the audience will be entertained by Russian showman Maxim Galkin, Russian singer Valeri Meladze and Moldovan singer Natalia Gordienko.
The authorities of the municipality of Balti invite the locals and guests of the city to participate in many other cultural, artistic and sports events, dedicated to the city day. From exhibitions and fairs to parades, theater performances, folklore festivals and sports competitions, the activities will take place in various locations in Balti, including Independence Square, “Mihai Volontir” Central Park, “A. Cantemir” Art Gallery and “Vasile Alecsandri” National Theater.
The mayor’s office said the city’s day strengthens the community and values the identity of Balti municipality – a locality with rich traditions and active people representing various cultures.
Also today, Orthodox Christians mark the Bringing of the Relics of Saint Hierarch Nicholas, a holiday known among the people as Summer Saint Nicholas. It is an important day in the religious calendar and, on this occasion, a number of localities in Moldova, including Basarabeasca, Donduseni and Falesti, celebrate the Patron Saint Day.
