The Government announced the energy renovation of residential buildings in the capital city. Projects that include thermal insulation works for blocks of flats and modernization of the internal heat distribution systems will be carried out. The Cabinet approved the ratification of two agreements to implement the project “Optimization of Chisinau District Heating System”, IPN reports.
A number of 2,510 individual thermal points will be installed, and 1,665 residential buildings will switch to a horizontal heat distribution system. At the same time, the primary thermal networks are to be rehabilitated and two new pumping stations are to be built to ensure the efficiency of the city’s thermal energy supply.
“We have a new project with free funding from our partners in the European Union, which benefits the citizens of Chisinau. In the last half year, we approved projects worth almost half a billion euros for the capital city,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The authorities have not communicated the deadline for carrying out the energy renovation works, but, according to the Ministry of Energy, they will significantly contribute to reducing costs for consumers, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 816,000 tons, saving 4,600 MWh in the next 20 years, as well as improving the quality of services.
