Reunion of Romanian National Theaters returns to Chisinau with a new edition

The Reunion of Romanian National Theaters returns to Chisinau with the 8th edition. For the first time, this year’s reunion will be preceded by a showcase that will start on September 8 with the play “Romeo and Juliet” from the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”.

For one week, a selection of 11 plays from the current repertoire of the National Theater will be presented for curators of international theater festivals, for critics, journalists and performing arts specialists.

Starting next week, the Reunion of Romanian National Theaters will bring an extensive program of cultural events: plays that have fascinated the Romanian theater world, with fabulous casts and impressive scenographies, book exhibitions and conferences about theatrical art, premiere auditions of radio shows, outdoor performances, a total of 11 plays of the “Mihai Eminescu” National Theater and 38 other events.

This year, the program includes a Ukrainian guest of honor: the “Ivan Franko” National Theater from Kyiv, which will present the show “The Witch of Konotop” on September 21. For the first time, the genre of street theater was included, in the open air, with performances of non-verbal shows, which will be presented in the square of the “Mihai Eminescu” Theater at the launch and closing of the festival, as well as on the 16th and 23rd of September.

For the third consecutive year, the Reunion of Romanian National Theaters in Chisinau enjoys the privilege of High Presidential Patronage, granted by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. The festival is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Culture of Romania, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the “Mihai Eminescu” Romanian Cultural Institute from Chisinau.
