Socialiștii vor protesta la Comisia Electorală și Curtea Constituțională

Vlad Batrîncea, the head of the parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS), on Friday announced that the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) will contest the results of the runoff presidential election held on November 3, IPN reports.

During a briefing, Batrîncea said that the PSRM has already filed an official complaint with the Central Election Commission (CEC) about alleged violations during the electoral process. The CEC is expected to discuss the complaint at its meeting later today.

“Given that several days have passed since the runoff election, the PSRM’s legal team has analyzed hundreds of reports from observers who were present at every polling station in the country and abroad. We have also reviewed materials from the PromoLex organization and the preliminary report from the OSCE. Based on these, we have filed an official complaint with the CEC, requesting clarifications regarding the irregularities observed,” said Batrîncea.

Among the violations pointed out by the Socialists are the “massive use of administrative resources,” “electoral campaigning on the day of silence and election day,” and “voter intimidation.” Batrîncea emphasized that the elections on November 3 were not “free and fair” and called for a revision of the election results.

The PSRM leader also noted that, in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2025, it is crucial for state institutions involved in organizing elections, such as the CEC, the Constitutional Court and the Audiovisual Council, to be depoliticized. “We need to ensure real depoliticization of these institutions, including the leadership of “Teleradio-Moldova”, which acted in favor of candidate Maia Sandu, as confirmed in the preliminary OSCE report,” said Batrîncea.

In addition, the PSRM plans to hold a protest rally today at 02:00 p.m. in front of the Central Election Commission and to seek the revision of the election results. The Socialists also intend to challenge the presidential election results before the Constitutional Court.
