The Bar Association of the Republic of Moldova is holding elections for the position of president. The voting began today, January 19, and will conclude on January 21, at 05:00 PM, reports IPN.
The UAM Congress takes place in a hybrid format, with the majority of lawyers participating online. The right to vote is exercised electronically and is confidential.
According to the Union of Lawyers, at 16:29, there were 927 lawyers with voting rights registered at the Congress proceedings.
Lawyers can vote for Natalia Balaban, Anatolie Barbacar, Alexandru Țurcan, Mihail Durnescu, or Ludmila Spinu.
In addition to electing the President of the Bar Association, the delegates will vote for six members of the Lawyer Licensing Commission. Also, the Annual Report on the activity of the Bar Association Council in 2025 and the budget execution report will be approved.
The President of the Union of Lawyers is elected for a term of two years from among lawyers with at least five years of professional experience. The current president, Dorin Popescu, has served two consecutive terms and could not run again.
