The Bic River is to be rehabilitated. The capital’s City Hall has signed a contract with an Italian company to provide research and design services for the Bîc River Rehabilitation and Flood Protection Project. The value of the contract for this stage is about 4 million euro, IPN reports.
Hydrological and topographic data will be collected and analyzed, necessary to identify optimal rehabilitation solutions. At the same time, an integrated watershed model will be developed, sustainable drainage systems will be designed and the stormwater network will be rehabilitated to prevent excessive water accumulation and the riverbed will be reprofiled.
“Each partner brings specific expertise in hydraulic engineering, urban planning and environmental protection, which ensures an efficient and sustainable implementation of the project,” said Mayor Ion Ceban.
The project is implemented by Chisinau City Hall with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Green Climate Fund. The total budget is €21 million, of which €4 million is a non-reimbursable grant.
