The Residence Book is the new model of identity document for foreign citizens with legal residence rights in the Republic of Moldova. The document comes with several changes that meet international standards and facilitate both the life of foreigners and the activity of authorities and employers, reports IPN.
The new document will no longer contain the home or temporary residence address, which, according to the project, will reduce the expenses of foreign citizens when they change their residence and will simplify administrative procedures. The address information will be updated directly in the State Population Register, without the need to issue a new document.
At the same time, it is specified that for employers, the change means a faster and simpler management of foreign employees’ documents. Also, the new model includes a qualified certificate for the electronic signature, which allows foreigners to access digital public services and to identify themselves electronically, just like Moldovan citizens.
According to the authorities, this initiative contributes to the modernization of the documentation system, strengthening of personal data security, and advancement of the digitalization process of public services in the Republic of Moldova.
