Warning to Israeli authorities. Israel’s prime minister justifies himself

French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a warning to the Israeli authorities, describing the situation in Gaza as “egregious actions”, IPN reports.

After an 11-week blockade, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced that he would allow only “basic food supplies” into the enclave and that he intended to achieve “total victor” in Gaza.

In a joint statement, the Western leaders criticized the decision and said that “Israel’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching international humanitarian law”. The three officials reiterated their support for a ceasefire and called on Hamas to release the hostages, a British government statement said. According to statistics, more than 250 people were taken hostage in October 2023, and currently around 58 hostages remain in Gaza, among whom only 23 may be alive.

In response, Israel’s prime minister said that “by asking Israel to end a defensive war for our survival before Hamas terrorists on our border are destroyed and by demanding a Palestinian state, the leaders in London, Ottawa and Paris are offering a ‘huge prize’ for the genocidal attack on Israel on October 7 while inviting more such atrocities,” he said, referring to the Hamas attacks in 2023 that set off the war.

Fighting Between the Israeli army and the Hamas group in Gaza broke out in October 2023. In March this year, after a two-month truce, the Israeli army resumed attacks on the enclave.
