Moldovan citizens in distress in countries where Moldova doesn’t have a diplomatic representation will be able to seek consular assistance in the diplomatic or consular missions of the GUAM member states, namely Georgia, Ukraine or Azerbaijan. Similarly, Moldova will provide support to the citizens of these states, under a GUAM convention ratified by the Moldovan Parliament.
The Convention of the Member States of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development GUAM on mutual assistance in consular matters was signed in 2022 in New York.
The document reconfirms the will of the member states to contribute to the development of cooperation in the consular sphere in order to improve the system of protection of the rights and interests of their citizens.
