A 14-year-old teenager died after he fell under the ice of the lake situated in “La Izvor” Park of Chisinau on Friday evening. He was with another 12-year-old boy who managed to get to the shore. The body of the 14-year-old minor was recovered on Saturday morning, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the call to the 112 Service was received at around 11 p.m. “Rescuers, cynologists and police officers carried out searches, but without results. On the morning of January 27, the searches resumed. Rescuers managed to recover the body of the 14-year-old boy from the lake at 08:30 a.m. It was found at a distance of about 20 meters from the shore. The case is being investigated,” noted the Inspectorate.
Rescuers repeatedly warn that walking and playing on fragile ice leads to tragedies. Amidst oscillating temperatures, being on frozen lakes is extremely dangerous. Special attention should be paid to adolescents so that they perceive the risks to which they expose themselves when they don’t comply with elementary safety rules, especially when it comes to walking on the ice of lakes and ponds in the country.
