More than 11 thousand students were admitted to high school in the first stage of admission, this figure represents 46% of the total number of certified graduates of secondary school. Compared to the previous year, the high school enrollment rate increased by 2.73 percentage points, IPN reports, citing data from the Ministry of Education and Research.
More than half of the candidates admitted – 53.87% – opted for the humanities profile. 32.67% of students enrolled for the real profile and 8.16% for the general profile. The other candidates chose the sports profile (2.30%), the artistic profile (1.54%) or bilingual classes (also 1.54%).
Admission was organized in 307 out of 337 high schools in the country. Of these, 215 high schools – or 70% – managed to fill at least two tenth classes, while 85 high schools filled only one class. At the same time, three high schools did not have any applicants in the first round.
For the second round, which runs until August 13, 2238 places are still available.
The network of high schools in the Republic of Moldova includes 225 high schools in urban areas and 102 in rural areas. Of these, 227 offer instruction in Romanian, 86 in Russian and 14 are coeducational.
