Two outbreaks of African swine fever were detected in Cahul district: in a rural household and on a pig farm.
The National Agency for Food Safety says that three hog corpses were also found near the village of Vadul lui Isac. ANSA inspectors took the samples to confirm or deny the presence of the disease.
The agency asks pig owners to inform territorial subdivisions for food safety, veterinarians or local public authorities in case of illness and death of animals or detection of boar carcasses. Feeding pigs freshly harvested grain or food scraps should be avoided.
In 2023, 20 outbreaks of swine fever were recorded. More than 330 pigs and more than 20 wild boars were culled due to the disease.
