Two false bomb threats were made on Monday, concerning the planting of explosive devices in 43 locations, 23 of which in Chisinau. The police said the author of one of these hoaxes was identified and is investigated. No other details about the suspect were provided, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, 43 false reports of bomb threats made against 200 sites have been recorded this year. No explosive was founded as a result of security checks.
The police traced the phone calls and emails informing about bomb threats. The phone calls were made in the country, while the emails were sent from outside the country and international support organizations will be therefore involved in the investigation process.
In accordance with the law, the person who commits such an offense is liable to a fine of 27,500 to 42,500 lei, 240 hours of community service or at most two years in jail.
