The authorities warn that a new falsehood is being circulated online, that a large American company will buy land in the Republic of Moldova. The law bans the sale of land to foreign companies and citizens, according to the First Source platform, a channel for verifying government information, IPN reports.
“We ask the citizens to treat the sources of information carefully and to always verify the accuracy of the information, especially during the election campaign. All official data are provided exclusively through our official communication channels and in cooperation with the European institutions”, writes the First Source.
On December 28, 2023, the Parliament adopted the Land Code, which says that “the right of ownership over agricultural land or forestland cannot be acquired or owned by foreign citizens, natural or legal persons”.
