Chisinau will ask for revision of Interpol’s refusal to list Plahotniuc as wanted

The law enforcement agencies in Moldova will again submit the documents to Interpol to request the revision of the refusal to put the former leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc on the wanted list, said Octavian Yakimovski, acting deputy chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, IPN reports.

“According to Interpol’s Constitution, they are not obliged to give explanations for the refusal. We are discussing with them and seeking to restore this file so as to probably obtain the revision of the solution given by the Commission for the Contrail of Interpol’s Files. We are preparing the documents, the information together with colleagues from the Police Cooperation Center to see how this decision can be reviewed,” Octavian Yakimovski said in the program “At 360 degrees” on Radio Moldova station.

As for the whereabouts of Vlad Plahotniuc, the acting deputy chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said that there was no official confirmation from any institution that he is in Cyprus. There was only operational information, but no official document in this regard existed.

Referring to the fugitive Ilan Shor, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison, Octavian Yakimovski said that he is a citizen of the Russian Federation. The extradition procedure is within the competence of the Ministry of Justice.

He also said that efforts are being made to “bring home” Veaceslav Platon. However, he refused to give details, mentioning that they will be made public shortly.
