President Maia Sandu bestowed the Order of the Republic on the dance sport club “Codreanca” for the popularization of dance sport, realization of the artistic and sports potential of young dancers and propagation of a good image of Moldova outside the country. The order was handed over on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the club, IPN reports.
State awards were also given to three trainers. The Order of the Republic was bestowed on senior trainer Svetlana Gozun, while the honorific title Master of Arts was conferred on Elena Gozun and Nicolai Oreshkin. The trainers were awarded in appreciation for their talent and professional dexterity, for merits in developing the chorographic art and prompting dance sport.
President Sandu noted the considerable contribution made by these artists to taking the choreographic standards to world levels and to raising new generations of champions.
Attending the anniversary event held at the Palace of the Republic, Prime Minister Dorin Recean appreciated the contribution made by the sport club founded by the Gozun family to promoting the Republic of Moldova on the international arena. “Today, “Codreanca” is not only a name known all over the country, but is also a calling card of Moldova abroad. We thank you for your work, diligence and discipline and for the fact that you have raised over 50,000 disciplines and trainers during these 50 years,” stated Dorin Recean.
The dance sport club “Codreanca” means about 20,000 disciples and trainers who work in different countries. The club so far has won 43 gold medals, 33 silvers and 26 bronzes at World and European Championships. It was also awarded the titles “Emeritus Artistic Group of the Republic of Moldova” and “Popular Group” and the Order-Insignia Stephan the Great and Holy and the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Gold Medal for Creativity.
