Applications to compete in the contests “Trademark of the Year” and “Award for Quality Accomplishments” will be accepted from February 16 until March 31. The presentation file can be submitted by April 14. In a news conference to launch the contests, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented the new elements of the current edition, including the nomination “Brand Name” for the promotion of family friendly workplaces, IPN reports.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Sergiu Harea said that through the agency of these contests, the national trademarks and those that are intellectual property will be supported and promoted. Concessions will be offered for services to promote trademarks at different training courses and seminars provided by the Chamber and the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). Last year the contest involved 100 trademarks and 79 of these became winners. “In the Republic of Moldova, we have many innovations, national brand names that need to be promoted as part of this event,” stated Sergiu Harea.
The Top Prize is the Golden Mercury. Among the other prizes are the Golden Mercury statuette for the INTER nomination, leader of the year, reputation and trust, export, rebranding and favorite SME of the year.
Eugeniu Rusu, director general of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, noted that an increasing number of producers realize the importance of protecting trademarks. During 30 years of activity, the Agency processed applications to protect over 148,000 trademarks. “I encourage the business entities that have a registered trademark that is valid in the Republic of Moldova to take part in the contest “Trademark of the Year”. The participation in this contest can offer the trademark holders the possibility of promoting their businesses and their trademarks in front of a larger audience,” said the AGEPI director.
Natalia Cheptea, senior inspector of the Anticorruption Education Division of the National Anticorruption Center, announced the extension of the category of subjects that can take part in the contest. “So far the contest has been open to representatives of big, small and medium-sized businesses. We now extended this category so that it covers also municipal enterprises and joint stock companies that own state capital in these enterprises,” said the senior inspector.
The winners will be presented at the Moldovan Business Gala in June.
