Romania’s support for the Republic of Moldova is substantial and trans-party and the Romanian state was and will be a consistent and unreserved supporter of the irreversible European path of the Republic of Moldova, of authorities’ efforts to build solid, modern, resilient and really European democratic institutions that work efficiently only for the direct benefit of the citizens and for the implementation of the reforms stipulated in the Association Agreement signed with the European Union, Romania’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Daniel Ioniță noted in a message disseminated on the occasion of the National Day of Romania that is celebrated on December 1, IPN reports.
“This year, we celebrate 103 years of the Great Union, which is a moment of astral importance, when the hearts of all the inhabitants of the Romanian provinces beat in unison. We will not stop saying that December 1, 1918 was a benchmark in the modern history of Romania, an uncontestable proof of the Romanian people’s attachment to the values of freedom, unity, social equity, democracy, mutual respect and tolerance. These are actually the values that Romania continues to promote consistently domestically and in its foreign policy,” stated Daniel Ioniță.
The ambassador also referred to the profound and special relations between Romania and Moldova, which, according to him, represent the foundation of the hopes and perspectives he mentioned above. A series of exchanges of visits between the delegations of the Parliaments of Romania and Moldova were made the last few months and there is an intense dialogue between the heads of the dipolomatic services of the two countries. Also, 30 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Romania and Moldova were celebrated on August 27 this year.
“Romania and the other EU member states were near the Republic of Moldova during the recent energy crisis and, in this connection, it was again underlined the importance of the Iasi – Chisinau gas pipeline and the necessity of the other projects that ensure energy interconnection with the EU through Romania for ensuring the Republic of Moldova’s energy security,” said the ambassador.
Daniel Ioniță also spoke about the projects supported by Romania and noted that these will be continued. It goes to the projects to repair, build or modernize education and cultural facilities, to build aqueducts and railroad and road bridges, to diversify economic relations and strengthen inter-human ties between the inhabitants from both sides of the Prut. “I’m fully convinced that Bucharest, alongside the other development partners, will further help the Moldovan authorities and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to overcome any crisis period, regardless of their nature,” stated the diplomat.
