The authorities announce enhanced security measures for the European Political Community Summit that will take place in Moldova on June 1. Among these are the closing of road sections to traffic and banning of vehicle parking during particular periods of time, in maximum security areas, IPN reports.
The security measures will be taken gradually and will be announced beforehand so as not to cause considerable inconvenience to the people. The citizens will be informed about the alternative travel routes and the possibilities of parking motor vehicles in the security area intended for the EPC Summit.
The Border Police will step up the control and supervision measures in all the areas of competence. The number of frontline border police officers and special travel document examination devices will be supplemented. In order to ensure aviation safety and security, all the civil flights will be banned all over Moldova’s airspace between midnight (local time) on June 1 and 7am (local time) on June 2, except for official aircraft. In case of civilian drones, the flying ban is valid for the period between midnight (local time) on May 31 and 7am (local time) on June 2.
Also, the parking place near the Chisinau International Airport will work according to a special program between May 15 and May 25. In the period, parking on the inferior floors will be banned. The superior floor will be available for parking, but during May 25 – June 2 (7am, local time), the parking place will be fully closed.
The police call on drivers to show understanding in case of difficulties in traffic. The citizens are urged to plan their routes for May 31 and June 1 and 2 beforehand and to use roads bypassing the Chisinau International Airport and avoid the main arteries of Chisinau and the areas with limited access. They need to have IDs on them so as to prove their identity if necessary.
