A fire broke out at “Liviu Deleanu” Theoretical Lyceum in the capital city on Friday. The students, teachers and other persons who were inside the institution were evacuated. Five firefighting teams travelled to the scene and localized the fire during an hour, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the call to the 112 Service was received at 12:37. The emergency crews determined that the fire engulfed the basement of the educational institution.
The operation was classed as high-level intervention and the number of teams was increased to ten. The fire was localized at 1:40 p.m. and was later fully extinguished.
Medical crews were present at the scene. No casualties were reported. About 1,900 children were evacuated from inside the high school’s building.
