A person has died in the town of Broșteni in Suceava county, while another 880 have been evacuated from three communes in Neamț county in Romania, after floods wreaked havoc in both regions. The floods destroyed bridges, knocked down trees, and blocked roads. A section of road collapsed between the towns of Ostra and Stulpicani, according to Romanian media, cited by IPN.
In the town of Ostra, eight people, including two children, were left isolated by floodwaters in their own home, until the intervention of the firefighters. Dozens of rescuers mobilized with SMURD helicopters to reach the victims.
An official from Neamt county has stated that the Bistrita river has reached a historic level, exceeding the danger mark by 40 centimeters.
In the counties of Neamt and Suceava, a red and orange flood warning has been issued, according to the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management.
