Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said that more replacements in the government team can follow. The leader of the ruling party PAS noted the substitution of the minister of economy was necessary for de-bureaucratizing economic activity. The Speaker expressed his conviction that Dumitru Alaiba as minister of economy will manage to digitize the processes and will more efficiently communicate with the business community in Moldova, IPN reports.
Igor Grosu said the decision to replace the minister of economy was taken together with the PAS MPs and the government team and the composition of the Cabinet can be yet modified.
“We considered that interventions are needed in several ministers, including the Ministry of Economy. We thought that a person with experience in the legislature is needed and this will have the task to communicate more with the business community. Time will possibly come to intervene in other areas. Nothing is definite. If need be, similar decisions will be taken so that things move faster in particular areas too. I do not refer to the Prime Minister, but to ministers,” Igor Grosu stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.
The Speaker praised Minister of Economy designate Dumitru Alaiba, saying that Sergiu Gaibu is a technocrat who managed to reform the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, but failed to efficiently communicate with the business community.
“Dumitru is experienced and knows the area. He put forward very courageous initiatives. He is sure that the digitization of processes, services needs to take place at another speed. He always proposed de-bureaucratization measures. Sergiu Gaibu is rather a technocrat. He probably communicated less, but we are not all good at communication and at policies too,” said the official.
As to the press reports that Sergiu Gaibu aims to occupy the post of director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology, Igor Grosu said things cannot be done so swiftly and additional discussions will be held to see if the person is more suitable for this important post, as regards the promotion of services and digitization.
Sergiu Gaibu on Wednesday resigned as minister of economy and was replaced with the head of the Parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finance Dumitru Alaiba. Also yesterday, secretary of state at the Ministry of Environment Rodica Iordanov was named minister of environment. Under the law, the President signs the appointment decrees and the ministers then take an oath of office before the head of state.
