In Tiraspol, the activities of 55 kindergarten groups have been suspended since July 1st. The local administration explained the situation with “low attendance during the summer season” and the need to “optimize resources”. The decision affected both children and staff, with employees being temporarily sent on leave, reports the IPN correspondent from the Transnistrian region.
During a meeting with the administration of Tiraspol, it was announced that 55 groups from preschool institutions in Tiraspol have been temporarily closed. According to Mayor Ilona Tiuriaeva, many parents do not bring their children to kindergartens during the summer, hence the decision to optimize the activities of the institutions.
The decision to close dozens of groups in Tiraspol kindergartens for a period coincided with the precarious economic situation on the left bank of the Dniester. The administration of the region acknowledges that this year’s budget cannot be executed, therefore, under these circumstances, the local authorities are obliged to return the unused funds to the central budget.
In the meantime, Tiraspol has opened a summer camp for 240 children from orphanages and large families. The children are provided with five meals a day and an entertainment program. However, even in such camps, risky situations have arisen: 17 children aged between 9 and 11 years old were poisoned at the “Victoria” camp. Preliminary data revealed the cause – serious violations of sanitary norms: spoiled products, lack of labels, and irregularities in egg processing. Moreover, the camp’s medical center did not have the necessary medicines. Thus, as of June 27, the “Victoria” camp has been closed.
