A businesswoman from Balti has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after hiring an ex-convict to kill her husband’s alleged mistress. According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, the attempted murder was foiled before the crime was committed, IPN reports.

According to the investigation, the woman initially turned to a private detective. Later, she sought the help of a client of the company she was running, who was employed in legal structures, falsely asking her for information about the victim’s residence. The collaborator was penalized for disclosing personal data.

After obtaining the address, the woman contacted a former inmate, previously convicted for murder, to whom she offered 5 000 euros to stage a robbery at the victim’s residence, with the intention of killing her.

The plan was reported to the authorities and with the help of law enforcement, the crime was simulated. The accused was shown fake photos, suggesting that the murder had been committed. The woman was detained after she paid an initial installment of 2 500 euros.

In accordance with the law, until the final decision is pronounced, the defendant benefits from the presumption of innocence.
