The Republic of Moldova has been officially invited to present its negotiating position on Cluster 6 – “External Relations”, as part of the European Union accession process. The announcement was made by the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, reports IPN.
According to the official, the invitation was sent by the Irish presidency of the Council of the European Union, and the authorities in Chisinau are already prepared for this stage.
“We continue to move forward in the negotiation process for EU accession. We have been prepared for this step for over a year”, stated Cristina Gherasimov, who emphasized that, at this stage, maintaining the pace of necessary reforms for advancing accession negotiations is essential.
On June 15th, the Republic of Moldova officially opened negotiations on the first cluster – “Fundamental Values”, which includes five chapters targeting justice reform, rule of law, and the functioning of democratic institutions. Cluster 6 – “External Relations” includes two chapters, 30 – external relations and 31 – foreign security and defense policy.
