So far, the Republic of Moldova has received 477 million euros from the Economic Growth Plan, with a total value of 1.9 billion euros, provided by the European Union. The announcement was made by the president of the Parliamentary Commission for European Integration, Marcel Spatari. According to the official, in order to access the next tranche of funding, it is necessary to put into operation the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line, reports IPN.
According to the PAS deputy, the European funds already transferred are directed towards several strategic areas for the country’s development. “From the Growth Plan, the Republic of Moldova has received 477 million euros from the European Union. These are funds that go into infrastructure, into business programs. It also involves the field of education, health. The money comes into the state budget and from the state budget programs are financed,” said Marcel Spatari during the show “Me and the European Union” on the public television station.
The deputy mentioned that accessing European funds is conditional on the implementation of certain reforms and specific projects undertaken by the authorities. One of the conditions is the commissioning of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line, considered essential for the country’s energy security.
“When we talk about the absorption of European funds, we need to make some very concrete reforms. For example, we need to put into operation the high-voltage line Vulcanesti-Chisinau. The line has been built, but there are still technical issues. We are also waiting for it to be put into operation. Once it is operational, the corresponding tranche will also come,” the deputy further stated.
