“For the Republic of Moldova, peace and stability in the region are very important. They allow us to focus on the solving of the problems faced by the country and the citizens. On these days, we turn our attention to Ukraine. The worsening of the situation on the border of the neighboring country concerns us a lot,” President Maia Sandu stated in a message over the regional security crisis, IPN reports.
President Sandu said that together with the Government and Parliament, she is examining the possible crisis development scenarios and is assessing the potential risks. The life and safety of people are a priority. Maia Sandu urged “to remain solidary and united and not to allow to be manipulated by the propaganda that cultivates division, not to allow hatred to take roots in our society because, regardless of the language we speak, of our political preferences, we are all citizens of the Republic of Moldova”.
“I hope the tensions in the region will be handled by dialogue and diplomatic talks as we know how high the price of war is. This is a price that no country in the world should pay. Peace is the guarantee of the future of the region and our country.”
President Sandu’s message came amid statements made by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who urged calmness and requested the West not to cause panic.
