The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, expressed gratitude to moldovans living abroad for “contributing to the protection of democracy in our country”. The head of state spoke with diaspora representatives at the Forum of the Alliance of Hometown Associations from Moldova, IPN reports.
“I am proud of how we stood together, united, against pressures aimed at replacing the true will of the people. Together, we have reaffirmed the citizens’ support for our national project – to bring the European Union here, to our home”, Maia Sandu wrote in a message on Facebook.
The president highlighted the involvement of the associations in the hometown alliance, an entity that contributes to the modernization of villages and towns, alongside the “European Village” program. Through these efforts, Maia Sandu noted, our fellow citizens carry out projects in their local communities and “build bridges between those at home and those abroad”.
