The Governments of Romania and the Republic of Moldova launched the implementation of the memorandum of understanding in the field of digital transformation. The joint commission identified a series of priorities for the initial implementation stage, IPN reports.
“We have a clear common agenda with Romania by which we undertook to cooperate and to support each other for stimulating bilateral cooperation, exchanging experience, mobilizing the technical, financial and human resources so as to develop the common digital space. Romania is the main partner of the Republic of Moldova. It supports us in each sector. We have very close economic relations and need this interoperability,” said Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for Digitization Iurie Țurcanu.
The e-Governance Agency of Moldova will develop distributed information systems in concert with the expert public authorities of the Government of Romania. It will identify and implement solutions to facilitate the exchange of data between the two states in order to ensure administrative simplification and to increase the accessibility of public services provided by authorities and public institutions from the two states. It will also became involved in the process of creating reusable information systems on the territory of the two states and will ensure the future maintenance of the applications and electronic services developed together in the two countries, noted the Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization.
“We often want bridges over the Prut, highways, asphalt and reinforced concrete. But at least as important are the digital bridges that will bring the economy of the future with all its opportunities to both sides of the Prut. The common digital space will bring advantages to the two countries. Besides enjoying multiple technological, financial or human advantages, the Republic of Moldova will be able to increase its capacities to transpose the standards and regulations of the European Union and to apply the best international practices in the field of digital transformation,” said Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization Sebastian Burduja.
The memorandum of understanding in the field of digital transformation was signed on February 11, 2022.
