Mural “Olympic Dream” destroyed by advertising company

The mural painting entitled “Olympic Dream”, dedicated to Moldovan athletes who participated in the Paris Olympic Games, was destroyed. The Chisinau City Hall came up with a reaction, noting that this was done by an advertising company. The municipal authorities assured that the painting will be restored as soon as possible, IPN reports.

In a post on social media, the National Olympic and Sports Committee expresses its regret and indignation at the destruction of the mural, saying that it considers this action is “a direct attack on the Olympic values and on the symbol of the unity and determination of Moldovan athletes”.

“With deep regret, we are witnessing the gesture of enemies of the sport, who tried to overshadow the Olympic values and shatter the symbol of our unity and determination. This act of vandalism is a blow to the sports community and to all those who contributed to the creation of this work of art,” reads the message of the Olympic Committee.

The Chisinau City Hall reacted, saying that the painting was damaged by an advertising company, describing the action as “arbitrary”.

“The building in the center of the capital city, where the mural painting “Olympic Dream” was inaugurated a few months ago, was previously covered with an advertising billboard. The poster was taken away at the request of the local public administration in order to apply the mural painting dedicated to the Olympic Games on the wall. There was an act of arbitrariness that led to the deterioration of the mural painting by an advertising company, which took the keys from one of the dwellers in order to climb up.” According to the City Hall, the works of the advertising company were stopped and the mural painting will be restored during a short period of time.
