One-time payments of 3,000 lei for about 5,500 children with severe disabilities

In November, 5,519 children with severe disabilities will receive a one-time payment of 3,000 lei. It will be granted automatically, proactively, which means that parents will not have to go to the National House for Social Insurance (CNAS) to submit any application or supporting documents, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said that the payment will be available at post offices throughout the country in the course of November. In order to benefit from the lump sum, the parent or legal representative of the child, who receives the social allowance set and paid by the CNAS, will present the identity card at the post office. In addition, all beneficiary families will receive notifications from the Government, informing them about the payment collection method and where they can go.

“I know that parents of children with severe disabilities often feel abandoned. I know that greater support and assistance from the state is needed for the most vulnerable ones, which is why we are investing in the quality and expansion of social services. We come up with this new support package so as to be closer to families with children with severe disabilities and we are working to identify new and new resources,” said Minister Alexei Buzu.

According to him, with the reform of the social assistance system – RESTART – the quality of social services for people with disabilities was considerably improved and the accessibility to services was increased in all localities in the country. In only nine months, the “Mobile Team” service reached all districts. Previously, this service was applied only in 15 districts.

Also, 150 new specialists in the protection of children’s rights were hired and work on the improvement of the information system for case management is being dine. Throughout the year, social workers, community social workers, specialists in the protection of children’s rights and specialists in the protection of persons with disabilities have attended training courses to improve capacities and to cement the impact of their work in communities.

In December 2023, families with children with severe disabilities also benefited from a one-time payment from the Government and development partners.
