Prime Minister Dorin Recean will address Parliament next week to request the establishment of a state of emergency in the energy sector, effective December 16, IPN reports.
“This means there is a risk of interruptions in energy supply, at least partially, if not entirely, for both electricity in our case and other types of energy”, said Dorin Recean.
The Prime Minister clarified that declaring a state of emergency would allow for restrictions on energy exports and the implementation of measures necessary to mitigate the impact of power outages on the population of the Republic of Moldova. “Especially if the risk of not receiving electricity from the Cuciurgan Power Plant materializes”, noted Recean.
The government must have all necessary tools at its disposal, including the ability to mandate certain actions from private sector companies, the Prime Minister added.
Today, Dorin Recean called for the resignation of Victor Parlicov from his position as Minister of Energy. He also requested the resignations of Victor Binzari, Director of SA “Energocom”, and Sergiu Tofilat, a member of the Supervisory Board of SA “Moldovagaz.” According to the Prime Minister, these individuals either obstructed or failed to act in time to secure gas at the best price.
