Shor Party’s group in Parliament stops existing

The parliamentary group of the Shor Party no longer exists. Parliament adopted a number of acts in order to implement the Constitutional Court’s decision to outlaw the party. The MPs of the outlawed Shor Party were absent from the sitting, while those of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists didn’t take part in the vote, IPN reports.

This way, the five MPs of the party that was declared unconstitutional – Marina Tauber, Denis Ulanov, Vadim Fotescu, Petru Jardan, and Reghina Apostolova – will now serve as independents.

The MPs also voted to exclude Denis Ulanov from the nominal composition of the Parliament’s Standing Bureau. The draft decision says the vacancy will be filled by the parliamentary group of the Party of Action and Solidarity, given the proportional representation principle

The five MPs were also excluded from the nominal composition of Parliament’s delegations to international parliamentary organizations and bilateral parliamentary organizations.

After the elections of July 2021, six members of the Shor Party entered Parliament. One of these was Ilan Shor, who was stripped of the seat of MP. The decision was adopted by Parliament after the Chisinau Appeals Court sentenced the politician to 15 years in jail by a definitive decision. Only five members of this party remained in the legislative body as a result.

On June 19, the Constitutional Court, being requested by the Government to determine the constitutionality of the Shor Party, declared this party unconstitutional. Under the decision, no document adopted by the bodies of this party after the given decision was pronounced has legal power. The Ministry of Justice will constitute a commission to liquidate the Shor Party. Representatives of the party described the Court’s decision as “abusive and criminal”.
