The Government approved the distribution of about 17 million lei from the state budget for complementary financing of universities. With this money, blocks of study will be renovated and dormitories will be thermally insulated, photovoltaic panels will be installed, and laptops and tablets will be purchased. In addition, the Ministry of Education and Research will allocate 2 million lei to finance student projects, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Education, the projects chosen for funding were selected at a competition. Six institutions will receive money from the state: the Moldova State University of Moldova (3.36 million), the Technical University of Moldova (4.1 million), the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (3 million), the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” (3.9 million), the State University “Alecu Russo” (1.5 million) and the State University of Comrat (1 million).
Complementary funding is one of the three types of funding granted to higher education institutions with financial autonomy.
