The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, is coming to Chisinau on November 6

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, will make an official visit to Chisinau on November 6-7, announced the head of the legislature, Igor Grosu. According to him, the European official’s visit represents an important moment for the relations of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union, and the subject of opening accession negotiations will be a priority on the discussion agenda, reports IPN.

“Roberta Metsola is coming to Chisinau on November 6-7. We will host her in Parliament. She will certainly give a speech in the plenary of the Parliament. Obviously, we will discuss the aspects of opening accession negotiations”, Igor Grosu stated during the “In Context” show on public television.

The President of the legislature mentioned that the authorities in Chisinau wish for the process of opening accession negotiations with the European Union to occur as quickly as possible. Grosu welcomed the statements of the European Commissioner Marta Kos, who recently affirmed that the Republic of Moldova is prepared for the opening of all negotiation chapters.

“I have seen Marta Kos’s statements too, who said that the Republic of Moldova is ready for the opening of all six chapters. The issue is in coupling or decoupling from Ukraine. We believe it is right to have the same start as our neighbors from Ukraine. The solution is still being sought. We hope it will be found in the near future”, explained the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu.

The head of the legislature emphasized that joining the European Union is not just a political objective, but also a guarantee of security and economic stability for the Republic of Moldova.

“Any EU member country, regardless of whether it is part of a military bloc or not, benefits from increased security. And this is a very good signal for investors”, concluded Igor Grosu.
