Ukraine and Norway will jointly produce drones, starting from 2026

Ukraine and Norway have agreed to jointly produce drones, with the pilot production line set to launch in 2026. The announcement was made by the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Denis Smihal, following the signing of an agreement to this effect with his Norwegian counterpart, Tore O. Sandvik, reports IPN.

“While Ukraine will share its experience and innovations, Norway will provide a solid production base, as well as cooperation in the field of research and development with top-tier Norwegian institutions”, mentioned the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.

Denis Smihal did not specify what type of drones will be produced as a result of this cooperation. “This project is an example of the type of cooperation we are building together with our partners: a collaboration that strengthens the defense capabilities of all countries in the free world”, declared Denis Smihal.

In June 2025, Norway announced that it will donate approximately 660 million dollars to the maritime coalition led by Great Britain for Kiev and will assist in the production of naval drones in Ukraine.
