President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen expressed her satisfaction with the telephone conversation she had with President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu. “Good phone call with Maia Sandu. We are in regular contact to help Moldova face its gas supply issue. The EU stands with Moldova. Our experts are on the ground to help with the situation. We are currently looking into additional support measures,” the official posted on Tweeter, being quoted by IPN.
In a press release, the presidential press service of the Republic of Moldova presented Maia Sandu’s statement. “The European Union has always stood near the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, both in good moments and in hard moments. We are grateful for the support offered by the European Union in the management of the natural gas supply crisis,” the official stated after the telephone conversation.
The discussions centered on the shortage of natural gas experienced by the Republic of Moldova. Maia Sandu thanked Ursula von der Leyen for the assistance offered in resolving the crisis and for assigning EU experts to help overcome the situation.
Among other subjects discussed was the reform implementation pace in the Republic of Moldova and the EU’s assistance in handling the pandemic and in staging an economic recovery.
