Former MP Violeta Ivanov, who is prosecuted on illicit enrichment charges, will spend another 30 days under house arrest, the Chisinau/Ciocana District Court ruled.
This was confirmed to IPN by Emil Gaitur, spokesperson of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases.
Ivanov is one of the five former MPs that were arrested on February 2 as a follow-up to an older investigation into the allegedly bribe-tainted defection of a group of Communist MPs to the Democratic Party back in 2015. Besides Ivanov, Anatolie Zagorodnîi, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Vitiuc and Artur Reșetnicov are also prosecuted.
